Caren Matthews-Lane was trained as a Speech and Language Pathologist at Glasgow University, Scotland. She left University saying that she never wanted to do speech therapy again but now has over 30 years’ experience in paediatrics! Her experience includes working in a variety of community settings including with the Indigenous Community in Redfern, itinerant support work in schools and preschools plus over 20 years working with children with hearing loss, cochlear implants and complex needs.
Caren is a member of the original, interdisciplinary team that developed the all-inclusive approach known as the COMBINE methodology. She is therefore passionate about working within a multidisciplinary program that incorporates intense group and individual programs tailored to meet the individual needs of children and their families.
Caren particularly loves to work with young children with highly complex needs and is trained in many additional areas including in DIR-Floortime, SOS Feeding Therapy, the MORE program, a variety of AAC methodologies including Visuals2Go, LAMP Words for Life, PECS, PODD and Key Word Sign, Auditory Verbal Techniques and Strategies, Attachment Theory and Stagnitti’s Learn to Play program.
Caren loves to spend time with her husband and 3 teen / adult children and their dog. In her little bit of spare time she loves to cram in friends, movies, reading, photography, travel, yoga, walking, swimming in salt water and eating out!
