Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapy (OT) services are dedicated to supporting individuals of all ages to develop the skills needed to participate meaningfully in everyday life.

While we specialise in early intervention—working closely with young children and their families during critical developmental years—we also support older children, adolescents, and individuals with ongoing or complex needs.

Our therapy approach is individualised, functional, and goal-oriented, with play-based therapy forming a key component of how we support engagement, motivation, and skill development. We incorporate meaningful and purposeful activities that align with each individual’s interests to promote participation, confidence, and independence across home, school, and community environments.

Our therapists support development across a range of areas, including sensory regulation, gross motor and fine motor skills, handwriting, school readiness, and independence in daily routines. We also assist individuals in building confidence and engagement in social settings, accessing the community, and developing essential life skills.

We are particularly passionate about supporting children with communication difficulties. Our Occupational Therapists work in a collaborative approach with Speech Pathologists and Special Educators to ensure each individual can access and use their communication system effectively, including Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). This includes adapting tools, environments, and methods where fine motor challenges may impact access, ensuring access to communication is always achievable and meaningful.

We provide support with:

  • Gross motor skills such as balance, coordination, strength, and safe movement, including safe lifting techniques
  • Fine motor skills including hand strength, dexterity, and functional tasks such as handwriting and tool use
  • Handwriting development, including posture, grip, and written output
  • School readiness skills such as attention, following routines, and transitioning between tasks
  • Seating and positioning in classroom environments to optimise engagement and learning
  • Use of adaptive equipment and assistive technology, including modified scissors and other tools
  • Incorporating movement breaks to support regulation and attention
  • Building tolerance for longer participation in classroom and structured settings
  • Supporting social participation and confidence in community environments
  • Developing independence in daily living and life skills

For individuals who experience differences in sensory processing (such as sensitivity to sound, touch, movement, or visual input), we offer sensory assessments, tailored sensory regulation plans, and practical strategies to support calmness, focus, and engagement. We work collaboratively with families, educators, and support teams to ensure strategies are consistently implemented across environments.

We are committed to delivering personalised, respectful, and evidence-based support that recognises each individual’s strengths and goals. Our aim is to empower every person to participate fully and confidently in their daily life.

If you are seeking support for your child or a loved one to build skills, increase independence, and navigate everyday challenges, we are here to help.
