Communication at Home
Home Tutoring and Support
Communication helps build connection between the individual and the family. It’s important for the individual to learn to communicate effectively with the people who matters most to his/her life. Hence, intervention in the family home is very important. We will consult with the families and guide them in how to create communication opportunities in the home.
We also understand that people with communication difficulties may also experience difficulties in other areas of learning and social well-being. We provide tutoring and learning support to meet educational goals. We believe every person has a right for choice and control and so we ensure that their communication needs are encouraged in their learning.
Tutoring and support will depend on the individual’s learning needs. Some of the things we can tutor include: Reading and literacy, Maths, Auditory discrimination, Speech articulation, following directions and social skills.
There is usually a link between communication and emotional and behaviour challenges. Quite often, behaviour issues reduce when communication needs are met. We are skilled in behaviour management and can implement strategies to reduce anxiety and increase communication in the home.
