Ada yip
Ada Yip is both a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing children and the mother of a Deaf adult. Ada earned her first Masters degree in Deafness and Communication Studies from Macquarie University and her second Masters degree in Special Education – Sensory Impairments from Renwick College, RIDBC. She has worked for the Education Departments in NSW and Queensland for more than 22 years. She has taught hearing impaired students from infants to Year 12.
Recently Ada has focused her teaching on the impact of early intervention and especially the significance of empowering parents to support their children at home to ensure that the developmental outcomes of Deaf / Hard of Hearing children and especially children with multiple disabilities are reached before they start school.
She believes the ability to communicate the needs and wants are basic human rights. She has successfully educated parents and teachers how to use different communication methods/Apps to enhance their children’s ability to express, not only just their basic needs but also their thoughts and ideas.
Ada is also fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
